Figure 1. DES 2400 Destripper Unit and Stacker Box
I. INSTALLATION
DES 2400 Unit
Connect the power cord to the DES 2400 unit and to any conventional
grounded 115v AC outlet.
Stacker Box Attachment
Open the knurled head screw located at the lower right side of the
DES 2400 unit.
Place the front left edge of the stacker against the right edge of
the DES 2400 unit.
Feed the slot located at the lower left corner of the stacker towards
the screw on the DES 2400 unit.
When the front edge of the stacker is perfectly aligned with the front
edge of the DES 2400 unit, tighten the knurled head screw.
II. OPEPATION
Power On
Connect the power cord to the DES 2400 unit and to a conventional 115v
AC outlet.
Turn on/off switch in back right side of unit to the ON position.
The motor may turn on and the red LED on the front panel will light.
If no check is inserted after 10 seconds the motor will turn off if
it was on. The red LED will remain on unless the power switch is manually
turned off or the cover is opened.
Placing a new check into the feed slot will reactivate the motor automatically.
Check Feeding
Checks to be destripped should be feed one at a time with the
face of the check towards the operator and the strip at the bottom
of the document. To ensure correct destripping, place checks into
the feeder trough. The DES 2400 can handle glued or taped strips.
The unit will cut the strip and automatically discard the strip into
the receptacle at the back of the check stacker box. The destripped
checks will fall into the stacker. The strip receptacle should
be emptied for every 600 checks destripped to avoid jamming the path to
the receptacle. Between emptying periods push strips away to clear
the check strip exit path.
Pat checks down once they begin piling more horizontally and not falling
into the “V” of the stacker. The stacker box can hold approximately
150-180 destripped checks. Stacking more than 180 destripped checks
in the check stacker box my cause checks to stack out of order.

III CLEARING JAMS
If a check becomes jammed inside the track:
Try moving the check towards the left (check feed) side of the machine
to clear the jam.
If unsuccessful,
Open the cover.
TO OPEN DES 2400 COVER:
Turn the power switch to the OFF position. Unplug the power cord Loosen
the knurled head screws located at the lower front right and left
sides of the destripper unit. Lift the cover.
NOTE: As a safety precaution, once the destripper unit cover
is lifted up the MOTOR automatically shuts off.
Open front tracks if needed.
TO OPEN FRONT TRACKS:
Loosen the knurled head screws that fasten the track support feet 2.3
turns and pull the track toward you.
Move the jammed check towards the left (check feed) side of the DES
2400 unit.
If necessary, rotate the wheel located under the baseplate
on the right side counterclockwise to back the check from the jam
area.
After the check is cleared, MAKE SURE THE SLOTS ON THE TRACK SUPPORT
FEET ARE FULLY IN CONTACT WITH THE KNURLED HEAD SCREWS andtighten the screws.
NOTE: Failure to fully secure the track support feet could cause
uneven strip cutting.
Close cover.
Connect power cord back into outlet and turn power on to continue operation.
IV. CLEANING
Tools Required: 1. Cotton-tip swab
2.
Orangewood stick (available at most cosmetics counters)
3.
100% isopropyl alcohol
Figure 3. Inner and Outer Rotary Blades
In the event of a gum surface buildup on the stacker, clean the stacker
with a cotton-tip swab lightly dipped in 100% isopropyl alcohol to
ensure correct stacking.
After 1,000-2.000 checks have been destripped (this amount is equivalent
to filling the stacker approximately 5-10 times), the inner and outer
blades must be cleaned.
CAUTION: Be careful not to apply excessive direct pressure
against the face of either the outer or inner blades with the cotton-Lip
swab or the orangewood stick. Too much pressure could cause misalignment,
resulting in improper destripping. The only took that should touch either
the outer or inner blades are the orangewood stick and the cotton-tip
swab. NEVER USE A METAL OBJECT TO CLEAN THE BLADES.
CLEANING OUTER BLADE:
This is the blade closest to the operator.
TURN POWER OFF. UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
Open cover.
Lightly dip a cotton-tip swab into a l00% isopropyl alcohol bottle.
Place the cotton-tip swab on the blade base while rotating the knob
under the base plate. The alcohol on the cotton-tip swab will remove
the paper and adhesive from the blade and the blade base after a few rotations.
Using an orangewood stick, apply the point of the stick to the outer
blade cylinder base. Hold the stick stationary while rotating the
knob under the base plate. The wood stick will peel the adhesive buildup
from the surface of the blade and the blade base.
Close cover.
Plug power cord back into outlet. Turn power on to continue operation.
CLEANING INNER BLADE:
This is the blade farthest from the operator.
TURN POWER OFF. UNPLUG THE POWER CORD.
Open cover.
Looking through the inspection window, apply a cotton-tip swab lightly
covered in 100% isopropyl alcohol through the opening on the right
side of the blade housing. Place the cotton-tip swab on the ledge
of the blade where dirt has collected. Rotate the blades with the knob
as before.
Looking through the inspection window on top of the blade housing,
insert an orangewood stick through the opening on the right side of
the blade housing. Apply the point of an orangewood stick to the upper
ledge of the inner blade. Hold the stick stationary while rotating the
blade with the knob as described above. The wood stick will peel the
adhesive buildup.
Close cover.
Plug power cord back into outlet. Turn power on to continue operation.
V. END OF OPERATION
Turn Power off. The red LED will turn off. Disconnect power
cord.
VI. SAFETY
WARNING: Turn off power and unplug power cord
before lifting the DES 2400 unit cover for any reason.
ALWAYS BE SURE THE POWER IS OFF WHEN THE DESTRIPPER UNIT
COVER IS
OPEN. NEVER ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT THE SAFETY INTERLOCK SWITCH.
